Today. Jake is the founder and CEO of Iconoclast Ventures, a venture management firm focused on scaling high-growth industry disruptors, and of BioSelexis Corporation, a Chevron Studio partnership commercializing nanocellulose for critical mineral recovery. Jake is recognized for leadership in cannabis, hemp, and emerging industrial markets — known for identifying opportunities ahead of market trends and scaling transformative companies in highly regulated and emerging industries.

Track record. Previously, Jake founded and served as CEO of Surterra Wellness, building it into one of the fastest-growing and largest cannabis companies in America. With a background in finance and real estate from Georgia State University and the London School of Economics, he has spent his career launching, financing, and scaling businesses in highly regulated industries — companies that have earned more than $1.1 billion in revenue since 2016. His ventures have earned the trust and support of partners including Shell, Chevron, and Margaritaville, as well as the USDA and numerous university grant and research programs.

Earlier career. Jake previously worked for SunTrust Equity (STEF), a bank sponsored fund that acquires, structures, and sells lease-backed notes and tax-advantaged "zero cash flow" properties for 1031 exchanges. From SunTrust, he launched Valkyrie Capital LLC, an investment fund managing a global-macro-themed family trust and leading investment strategy and research for a 20-member investment club.

Personal. Jake is passionate about entrepreneurship, innovation, and building businesses that generate both economic opportunity and positive societal impact. He is the father of three boys — Xavier, Finn, and Asher.
